Drive more revenue by maximizing employee performance.

Statistics show that arming your employees with the right information at the right time can increase performance by as much as 50%, (IBM – The Value of Training, 2014).

A dramatic jump in performance like this could potentially make each employee up to 26% more profitable for your business, (ELearning! Magazine, 2013).

We’ll show you how to create and distribute knowledge throughout your company so that you can unleash the true revenue-generating potential of every employee.

Full disclosure: We’re an eLearning company. We help businesses drive revenue through better employee performance. But we aren’t here to talk about our solutions right now. We want to show you what you can do today to educate your workforce with the clarity and consistency that is essential for growth.

Give employees the tools they need to succeed

48% of employees say they want training and development that is customized by job function, (InterCall, 2015). Instructor-led training workshops tailored to each segment of your workforce can provide the kind of relevant, hands-on experience employees crave. But, if you aren’t filling the gaps between your training events with a frequent stream of supplemental content or concept application, knowledge retention - and productivity - will suffer.

Fill training gaps with great content

By making it easy for your employees to access job-specific training and development courses, you can help your workforce maintain a consistently higher level of productivity. In fact, nearly half of employees surveyed also said they’d like to be able to review content after training, (InterCall, 2015). So, what does an effective staff training course look like? We’ve compiled a checklist to help you evaluate and improve your existing employee development material, or for your HR department to use as a guide for creating more effective training courses.

Employee training & development checklist

  • Relevant: Great staff training is relevant and specific to the roles and responsibilities of your employees. Work with your department managers to create a list of essential employee skills organized by job type or function. Once your team has documented exactly what it takes for employees to be most effective in their positions, create custom training content that speaks exactly the right language. During this process, don’t be afraid to rely on the expertise of your top performers. Find out what makes them successful, capture their knowledge and then adopt a system for distributing it throughout the department.
  • Culture-Focused: Every company has a unique culture and a unique set of values. Great employee development courses authentically reflect the culture of your business. Make sure that the people in charge of creating or sourcing your custom employee training courses have a firm grasp on your corporate identity. Anything less will likely be perceived by your employees as generic or impersonal.
  • Accessible: Great learning content can be accessed anytime, anywhere. In-person training is great, but it’s often constricted to a specific time and place. A learning management system (LMS) is storage and delivery software that organizes your training materials in one convenient location. This makes it easy for members of your workforce to access relevant information at their own pace. WordPress offers a free content management system that may meet your needs until you can research and invest in a more robust solution able to track and report performance results.
  • Engaging: If your company like most, then you probably don’t have an in-house content creation process, let alone dedicated team of instructional course designers. That’s ok! You can create charts, graphs and images to make staff training more engaging and to emphasize the most important concepts you want employees to retain.
  • Trackable: After employees engage with your training and development courses, you’ll ideally want to evaluate their effectiveness. A survey, created with a free tool like Survey Monkey, can shed light on what your staff found helpful and what it did not. You can then use this information to hone your approach for creating even more effective employee training courses in the future.

Seem complicated?

Hey, we never said it was going to be easy to create your own employee training, distribute it throughout your organization, track performance results, and continually improve your courses to optimize ROI. So why should you allocate time for all of this, or, for that matter, outsource the services to a reputable 3rd party?

Consider this: 42% of leading learning companies say eLearning has led to an increase in revenue, (The Ambient Insight 2012-2017 Worldwide Mobile Learning Market - Executive Report). If your company is not in this group, or if you aren’t seeing the increase in revenue you expected, it could be time to make a change.

In the meantime, we hope you can use this checklist to start delivering better employee training and development right now. And if you have questions about anything we covered here, don’t hesitate to ask! There’s never any risk or obligation for reaching out to us.
